Products & suppliers in Bali
Bali offers an exceptional variety of products for export: furniture, handicrafts, clothing, jewelry, construction materials, and far beyond. Finding the right supplier at the right quality takes time, especially the first time around.
We don’t keep our own list of suppliers, but we can point you toward sourcing agents or freelancers who know the local market well. And if you already work with several suppliers, our Money management service can handle their invoices for you.
Type of products
You can find a wide range of products in Bali:
- Furniture: Genuine antiques alongside new pieces in teak, mahogany, suar, coconut, bamboo, and rattan, often combined with textile or leather. Mas and Ubud are known for woodcarving; Tegallalang and Gianyar are major hubs for finished furniture and decor.
- Handicrafts: Thousands of items made across Bali, Lombok, Java, and other Indonesian islands converge here. Sukawati art market is where many buyers start sourcing at wholesale prices.
- Textiles & clothing: From traditional sarong, ikat, endek, and batik fabrics to surf wear, resort wear, and designer collections. Seminyak and Canggu host many independent fashion brands, while larger garment workshops cluster around Denpasar.
- Jewelry: Silver is the local specialty, and the village of Celuk supplies shops across Indonesia and abroad. You’ll also find costume jewelry, beadwork, gold pieces, and contemporary designer work.
- Construction materials: Tiles, marble, natural stones, andesite, terrazzo, and timber structures. Many buyers ship containers home for villa or renovation projects.
- Agricultural & artisan goods: Indonesian coffee, cacao, vanilla, spices, essential oils, soaps, candles, and natural cosmetics are growing categories, particularly for buyers looking beyond decor.
A few of these products require specific paperwork before they can leave the country. If you’re sourcing wood, antiques, or anything containing protected species, it’s worth reading our Export licenses page before placing orders.
Tips & tricks
- Deposits: Most suppliers ask for a deposit when you place a large order, typically 30 to 50% of the total. Final payment is usually due before the goods leave the workshop.
- Cash payments: USD and IDR cash transactions remain common with smaller suppliers. If juggling multiple payments becomes a hassle, our Money management service can centralise everything.
- Production checks: Handicrafts and clothing are mostly handmade, so visit the workshop regularly during production. It’s the simplest way to catch quality or timing issues early.
- Wooden products: Most wooden furniture and handicrafts need ISPM 15 fumigation before export. Plan a few extra days in your timeline for it.
- Ceremonies and timing: Bali is predominantly Hindu, and ceremonies are a regular part of life. Workshops and factories close on big occasions, particularly Galungan and Kuningan (which return every 210 days) and Nyepi, the Day of Silence in March, when the entire island, including the airport, shuts down for 24 hours. Check this year’s holiday calendar when planning production deadlines.
